ANNOUNCEMENT:  Wishadoo! has just upgraded this site and is in beta mode.  You may see "test" posts of various types, and the content needs to be cleaned up.  It was important to me to have the site go live by 1/1/2012, however, so I thank you in advance for your patience and ask you to pardon the mess.  ~ Dena

To learn more about Wishadoo!'s history, mission and intentions, please click here.

We’ll add to this page as questions roll in.  The content of this page will be cleaned up within a day or two after we're in 2012.

Please know that Wishadoo! is unique — it is a new way — so we need to “rewire” our thinking to understand Wishadoo! and how to use this space. Please enter with an open mind and open heart and envision the possibilities...

The most basic description of Wishadoo! is this: A website with tools to foster compassion, cooperation and authentic community in myriad ways, online and in our own "backyards." Yet Wishadoo! is so much more than a website with "tools." It is a personal and community awakening, a social (r)evolution. Read the Wishadoo! Vision and Founders' Stories. Contact us with any questions, and please INVITE others to Wishadoo!

There are many features which have not yet been activated, in order to not confuse and overwhelm (including the admins!Smile).  A directory which lists recommended businesses and other links, as well as a "compassion marketplace" are coming soon.  One step at a time...

 FIRST STEP: SET YOUR PRIVACY AND NOTIFICATION SETTINGS!

Privacy Settings

The Wishadoo! Community site provides you with a vast amount of options to manage your privacy. You can access these setting by clicking Settings (upper right-hand menu) and choose Privacy Settings. From here you can choose Invisible Mode. Invisible mode allows you to browse the site without appearing on any "Online" lists. You can also set privacy setting for all the different sections of your profile individually. For Example: Say you wish to have only your friend view your photos, then just choose photos and select “Friends only”. Your Notification preferences can also be accessed here. If you want to be alerted by email when replies, comments, friend requests, etc. are posted, this is where you select that. Also notice that, similar to Facebook for those of you familiar with that site, there are notifications that pop up at the bottom right corner of your screen when you have messages, invitations, etc.

WHAT CAN I DO AT WISHADOO!?

Use the WISHLIST -- called "a craigslist of compassion" -- to give, receive, pay it forward, connect and dream!

Use GROUPS and Pages in many ways:

  • Create a group for your city/state/country and be an ambassador to gather others;

  • If you are involved in a workplace, school, faith-based or other group, online and/or offline (PTA, book clubs, environmental groups, neighborhood, anything) that you feel would like to be involved with Wishadoo! and its mission, you can create a group and have your own online community with a discussion forum, event module and much more;

  • If you have a project you’ve already started or want to start in your community that supports our (r)Evolution of Compassion, create a group and gain access to our tools to further your project!

  • Create groups to discuss issues, work toward common goals, connect locally with other Wishadoo! members, and more

  • Wishadoo! now offers Pages (similar to Facebook pages) where businesses, organizations and public figures (authors, musicians, etc.) can provide updates to their supporters.

(Now you can have a private Group and a private Wishlist for your existing community or organization! While the public Wishlist gains more exposure, there are times when existing groups/communities would like to be able to post the wishes, needs and offerings of their members. You have that ability now at Wishadoo! For now, please Contact Us with any Group requests and suggestions.)

Use the EVENTS tool and other tools to promote your community projects and events.

BASIC QUESTIONS/ANSWERS ABOUT WISHADOO!

QUESTION:  If we want to donate money toward something to help someone, do we do that through something like PayPal? Or do we just reply to them on the website and make private, personal arrangements? ANSWER:  Unless a fundraising link is included with the Wishlist post, you simply contact them directly by hitting “reply” at the bottom of their Wishlist post. Of course, even with a fundraising link, you can always contact them directly in that manner.  That’s the primary way to use Wishadoo! — direct interaction.

QUESTION:  Is there any way of knowing how much money has been raised toward the various needs posted, or if the wish has been fulfilled already and how?  Those who are unfamiliar with the concept of Wishadoo! may be leery about helping a stranger if they don’t understand, or more importantly, trust, where their money or other types of offerings are going. ANSWER:   If a fundraising page is set up a link will be provided in the Wishlist post; you can check that page to see how much money is being raised in real time.  Note that  the funds go toward the Wishlist poster and object of the fundraiser directly, Wishadoo is not involved other than providing the space. As for trust, we see Wishadoo! as a grand social experiment.  It is why we ask people to enter with an open heart/mind, integrity, and no expectation.  This truly is a new way…the new way of bridging the world as we know it, to a world made up of authentic compassionate, cooperative communities. When people connect directly, it is up to them to ask for anything they need in order to decide whether or not they can or shall help. This is a new level of personal responsibility — on the part of the giver and the recipient.

QUESTION:  How is Wishadoo! different from other organizations and agencies which are helping people? ANSWER:  There are wonderful non-profit and for-profit groups out there with the mission of  helping people with their needs.  Wishadoo! actually intends to work WITH the many organizations and agencies, helping them by providing access to Wishadoo’s tools here at this site. The difference between Wishadoo! and those groups is that  no one has to “qualify” or prove themselves in order to be part of Wishadoo.  We (the Wishadoo admins) are not middlemen/women in this process; the responsibility lies with the one posting and those contacting them. Granted, if anyone is found to be a scammer, they’re gone in an instant and, if applicable, appropriate legal action will be taken.  We rely on the Wishadoo! Community to alert us when lies or misleading information is being given or posted.However, there is no “vetting” of Wishlist posts, per se, as is done with these other sites and organizations. With vetting comes time delays and people not even asking for help because they already feel beaten down and not worthy; and, even with vetting, there are those who scam.
