The occupy movement is gearing up to have a show of Nationwide Solidarity for the Occupy Oakland folks who were brutalized and over 200 arrested yesterday. Here's a quote from the Inter-occupy Home page:
"Yesterday, Occupy Oakland moved to convert a vacant building into a community center to provide education, medical, and housing services for the 99%. Police responded with tear gas, rubber bullets, beanbag rounds, and mass arrests."

If you have a local occupy you can join or contact today in Solidarity, I encourage you to make that move. Offer to bring muffins, etc. Personally i think that going from camps on public property to taking foreclosed buildings is brilliant. And i would rather see those buildings fashioned into something for COMMUNITY BUILDING as opposed to sitting vacant as a monument to corporate greed.
Occupy is at a critical moment, the strategy needs to change and the ideas are valid. but the PTB are winning because of backing by paramilitary and MONEY. I hope we can make it past this hurdle, and that spring will bring a new wave for people saying that FREEDOM and Community are what WE make of it...not what 'they' are selling us.

D. Patrick likes this.I just recopied this and sent a long rant to our local occupy contact... also mentioned that our local group should look into wiushadoo here for creating a hub and connecting to others of like mind and seeking resources...
thhis is a dangerous piece for me...as a journalist, i am supposed to cover the news, not MAKE it. But i decided to lend my talents to our local occupy as a PR person and a news-junkie...in this small town, it won't be long before I am recognized etc. but right now I don't care. I am sick of corporate owned life... I want my community and sustainable life, and I may just have to break some rules to get there ![]()

I haven't quite gotten the social sharing tools perfected here yet, but since we're both adding to the News forums, I am addressing that right away so we can "share" from here neatly and efficiently. I'll keep you posted when that's ready.

EDIT TO ADD that I've always felt the setup here is perfect for many groups, not the least of which are the various OWS groups; to make use of the group feature, with discussions, events and other tools for just their network, as well as the wishlist, to post what they need. Many things to be used here for such purposes in creating this new world.
